SUNDAY BLISS: On Sundays Londoners like to relax and visit one of the many fine markets to browse the eclectic goods on offer. Delving into London's varied Sunday markets brings you an alternative perspective on the city.
We start early at Columbia Road Flower Market, tucked away in a small street in the heart of east London. It is a magical world of plants and exotic flowers made up of over fifty plant stalls, shops and character packed cafes. And all of this as the rest of city sleeps.
We walk onto Spitalfields Market, close to hip and trendy Shoreditch. Again, an historic market that simultaneously prides itself on its modernity, today it offers an eclectic mix of arts and crafts, furniture, second-hand books, jewellery, and new, customised and vintage clothes.
We move onto the Truman Brewery close the City of London, the financial district. A centre for fashion, art and design with its own unique Sunday Market called Up Market. With over one hundred and forty stalls, Up Market is a platform for designer-makers to sell direct to the public - a great place to pick up a one-off / handmade London memento.
The tour continues as you explore the surrounding area, including Brick Lane - the heart of the city's Bangladeshi community. Known as Banglatown today, this dockside area was the first destination for generations of migrants to London, creating an area rich in history.
Whether you want to shop, see, eat or just people-watch, Sunday Bliss offers a sensory explosion. Haggling welcome, getting involved is an absolute must.
